I have a 96 900 5-door with 140K miles on it. At the current time, according to the dealer (at 120K), the engine and transmission need replacement ($8K-9K). In addition, the heater fan resistor has blown again(the 4th time) and they say the blower motor has to be replaced ($850) even though it does work on high. The list of problems with this car is, in my opinion, outrageous: 4 heater fan resistors, 2 ignition switches, 2 alternators, 4 sets of brakes (inc. rotors), windshield washer pump valve, 4 sets of tires, various suspension bushings, 2 exhaust systems, 2 batteries, and on and on. Saab in Norcross is of the opinion that an owner does not have the right to expect more than 120K from one of their cars and they are EXTREMELY unsympathetic. Am I alone in thinking that my Saab is a real lemon in the truest sense of the word? This car has been maintained according to the book and having owned a variety of cars over the past 35 years, some good, some not so good, and one really great one (86 Honda CRX-SI), totalling ovber 1 million miles, this car if the absolute WORST I'VE EVER OWNED.
