Need Advice on intermittant hesitation on 95 turbo

I am having intermittant problems on my 1995 900SE. First off it has 47,000
miles and new plugs with the direct injection system (i.e no plug wires). Recently my wife noticed that the car loses power and hesitates intermittantly. It feels like one cylinder is not firing. What is even more strange is that this problem does not appear in the morning, but rather in the afternoon she said. Well today I drove it in the morning - it ran fine. drove it in the afternoon - it lagged down. Then after letting it sit for awhile it ran OK. If this were a basic car I would change the wires and rotor. What suggestions do I have for this model
