I have had 205/55-15's on mine in the past but upgraded to Viking Wheels and the 205/50-16's. For the 16's I have used the Yokohama A520's and currently use Bridgestone RE 730's. Check my other posts for details on the RE 730's but they are excellent and a great value.
205/55-15's should have a similar diameter to the original 195/60-15's and did give me more cornering power with no rubbing or other problems. I used Dunlop AS 4000's but the wore out in about 25k miles. I would try something else and strongly recommend Bridgestone's if they make the size.
