First of all I believe you are having a problem with your microswitches. There are also some up front that can cause the same problem. As far as the top working slowly or jerky? The motor could be going. I recommend to only take the top up and or down with the engine running. The worst thing you can do to an electric motor is operate it without enough power. You will notice that the top operates much more smoothly with the engine running and if the engine is warm and the idle is below the alternator cut off point depress the accelerator slightly, I usually try for a little over the 1k rpm mark, probably 1,200-1,400. This may sound like a-lot of trouble but if you have an electric top, try it, you should notice a difference. Good luck. If yours is newer with hyrdaulic operation, sorry for wasting you time.
