You need to get a 1/4" brass ball valve from the hardware store, plus 2 1/4" ntp to hose barbs to thread into it. I have these, but have not yet installed (from another project). So I can't say if you need some longer hose or if 90 degree hose barbs would be better. Clamps too.
The biggest heat source is the aluminum intake manifold bolted to the aluminum head. A phenolic spacer would work very well. These are available for some other engines, very few, and not for Saab.
