First let me say that I appreciate this BB, and as a novice, I am usually on the recieving end of advice. So, it is good to be able to give a little back.
I have a 1998 900s. Here's how I changed my foglight bulb in about 15 minutes. I do not know if all NG 900's have the same set-up, but if yours is like mine, you are gonna be happy (or mad if you just spent 2 hours doing yours).
1. DO NOT remove the bumper, lip spoiler, any plastic under the car, headlights, etc. All work is done from the outside of the car.
2. The foglight is held on the car by three bolts. Two are easily visible from the outside of the car. Remove these bolts with your socket wrench.
3. With these two upper bolts removed you can expose the third bolt. This bolt is attached to the bottom of the light, and can be accessed by pushing the light down and back. As you do this, you will see the head of the bolt showing up in the gap you are creating between the bumper and the lip spoiler. Use a screwdriver or something to gently pry a little in order to create a large enough gap to get your socket wrench in (you will need a 2" extension here). Wratchet this bolt until the foglight is free. Leave this bolt attached to the lip spoiler, and leave your socket and extension attached to the bolt (this is not necessary, just makes it easier when re-attaching the light).
4. Now the foglight is free, except for the wires. Do not remove any wires. (Do not fear, the "hole" you just created by removing the light is big enough to get your hand in for back pressure when removing the screw and later re-attaching the light). Turn the light so you can see the black plastic piece that allows access to the inside of the foglight (located on the bottom). Remove the screw that holds this piece on. Do not drop the screw! Take the black plastic piece off, remove the old bulb, insert a new bulb, replace the black plastic piece and screw.
5. Re-attach the foglight by reverse order. The lower lower bolt is first(which is still attached to the lip spoiler, and your socket and extension is attached to the bolt). Just get your hand in there, and hold the light at the top to apply back pressure while wratcheting the bolt back on the the foglight. With the lower bolt in place, replace the two upper bolts.
This has GOT to be the easiest way to replace a foglight bulb. This was so easy, that I replaced the other bulb (it was old, but not burnt out) just to be sure before posting this message. Remember, I am a novice, so please keep any questions regarding this post on a basic level.
