Suddenly my engine died....!?!?!?!

I was enjoying my new suspension this evening(see post earlier today on B+G and Konis) on Rock Creek Parkway in DC, which is a great road to test the handling of any car... While crusing about 50 mph, my engine just died w/o any warning. Just prior to it dying, I heard a grinding noise that lasted abut half a second. After I coasted to the side of the road, I tried to start the engine and nothing. There is no turnover of anything. An audible one click when I turn on the ignition, the dimming of lights, and nothing. I checked the accessory belts and it seems to be intact. There were no burning smells, leaks or anything else. I don't think this is a DI cassette problem b/c the engine would turn over when I start it right? I dont think it can be ignition switch either b/c it died while I was driving. Please don't tell me its an ECU or broken timing chain. Before this incident I never had one problem with the engine. Ironic isn't it..just when I made a major improvement to the car, the engine gives.... So anyone have any clues?
