The front passenger side airbag can be disengaged by a SAAB dealer in the UK. If you are in the States, I would expect the same. It is recommended by many car safety advisors to do just that, If you intend to keep your baby in the frontseat in his/her baby seat. I did just that for the first year, until the baby seat went onto the back seat.
