Go with who ever you feel more comfortable with, but make sure you get a copy of your appraisal and go over it with whomever you choose to do the work. Make sure the shop realizes your concerns--the more they realize that you will go over this car with a fine tooth comb, the better job they will do.
When you look over the appraisal, make sure the shop will work for the labor rate on the appraisl (I'm a claims adjuster for an insurance co. in Mass) A lot of insurance companies write for a certain rate--anything over that you're on the hook for. In Mass, it's usually $32-$36/hr. Some folks take their cars to dealerships and the labor rate is $42/hr and then they get really mad when they find out that they owe the difference. Also, you may see either "A/M" or "LKQ" on the appraisal. LKQ means Like Kind and Quality--which means a Saab part, but off of a much less fortunate Saab than yours. Aftermarket is just what it means--new but not made by Saab. In Massachusetts, the insurance and auto body repair industry is highly regulated. So, appraisers have to write for either LKQ or aftermarket if a car is a year old or over 12,000 miles (the company I work for allows OEM parts on cars 2 years old and newer and under 24K)I don't know what the laws are like in your state. Make sure that if you do have any questions that the adjuster answers them fully--it can mean the differnce between you shelling out money and not shelling out money.
Good Luck!!
