Am planning on mounts, strut inserts, bearings, bushings, and any other wear & tear items related to the strut assembly. My local tech says I can change the lower control arms at a later date w/o having to tear down the entire strut assembly again. If not true, I'll change those also. At 100K, my 900 is starting to feel "arthritic" and needs a general overhaul.
I frequently think of this SAAB as my personal "sob story" (think "sob" not s.o.b.) b/c it's a '94 (WORST year possible for NG's... sob), 2.3 (no turbo... sob, sob), and, could it get any worse... AUTO TRANNY (SOB, SOB, SOB!). It's my wife's daily driver (she liked it, so I bought it out of a lease for her in '97), and major engine mod's are prohibitively expensive, so I believe the best course of action is to bring the running gear up to snuff. Even with the sob's many prob's relating to being the 1st of the NG's, I have become a believer in the make. Wonderful versatility, excellent power and response (especially for a N/A auto tranny), and a real pleasure to drive to western North Carolina. After 8 hours at 80 - 90 mph, we feel no fatigue (good seats) and have averaged close to 30 mpg. It's time for me to replace my old wheels, and I've been looking for a late 9000 or early 9-5 wagon.
P.S: Dean, on the Performance BB you suggested a K&N air filter, and Techron concentrate as the only realistic engine helps for this puppy. The Techron seems to have helped, and the air filter definitely allows the engine to "breathe" more easily. Thanks
