I have had one set of Blizzaks and two sets of "the legendary" Nokia
Hakkapallita's. The Hakkas are (IMHO) the best snow tire you can buy.

The Blizzaks I had were cheap...and that's about how they performed and wore, so I got my $$ worth. They were loud, wore unevenly on a properly aligned car, and I replaced one of them b/c a large bulge developed in the center of the tire.

I would highly recommend the Nokias. Call around or check the Nokia website for a dealer near you. Tirerack.com does not carry them unfortuately. I don't know what a set of Blizzaks go for today, but you should be able to get into a set of Nokias for $90-100 per tire.
