Woah....slow down partner. Start with the simple things first.
Most likely you have a thermostat stuck closed. The NG900 does not use a heater valve like the classic 900 did, but rather coolant is always flowing thru the heater core...but does so such that the coolant from the head circulates thru the heater core pre-thermostat....so when you turn the heat on and allow outside air to pass over the heater core...you have been using your heater core as an auxillary radiator....hence your temp drop with the heat on.
Change the thermostat NOW. Flush and replace the coolant with Saab factory coolant. I change my thermostat every 1.5-2 years, and myself as well as most good mechanics would recommend you do the same.
A leaking head gasket will be indicated by the coolant level consistantly decreasing with no evidence of leak, plus a sweet smell and/or white smoke from the exhaust. Or oil in the coolant if its leaking in the opposite direction.
If you are REALLY lucky, your lack of rapid attention to this matter hasn't resulted in additional damage....overheating will cause a warped head and a subsequent leaking head gasket, as well as cause the plastic tanks on the sides of the radiator to separate and leak. You're beginning to see why preventative replacement of the T-stat on any car is money in the bank!
Not trying to sound harsh above...just making my point effectively!
Hope this helps.
Keep us posted.
