I am the original owner of a '94 900SE V6 5spd 107,000 miles. I have had the timing belt replaced regularly and, with the exception of leaky valve covers that have been cured, I have had no problems with the engine. The V6's do have traction control which can mysteriously shut itself off but other than that all my problems are systematic of the NG 900 and not the V6.

Many Saabphiles on this board do not like that the V6 is a GM developed engine rather than Saab developed. Because of this they will never like the V6. What gets me is they are so strong in their opinions but have no experience with a V6; but have "heard" that they suck. Others have V6 engines blow up when they ignorantly ignore the timing belt issue.

I believe if you maintain the engine properly you will suffer no more frustration than the wonderfully engineered , saab engined cars ;) Granted this can be considerable and expensive at times but it is a Saab. My Saab now does the dirty work for my Mercedes Benz C32 AMG and I plan to hang on to it given the poor resale value of Saabs.
