Agree with the other post. Tires are what count. I have Dunlop a60 whatever and they suck in snow, ice, wet weather. Twice, they have taken me for a sleigh ride in icy conditions. The ABS was working both times - could feel/hear the pump cutting in and out - but the tires had no grip in the conditions. WHat I learnt was these tires are not for ice & snow. If I lived in NE, I would get winter tires. But I live in southern VA where snow/ice is rear.
Sorry about the damage to the car. But I suspect you put too much faith in the ABS. ABS will not save you from everything but it can help reduce the problem
