Hi All,

I have attached a picture of the tensioner arm assembly from my 97 Saab 900S 2.3 engine. Actually this tensioner is one I purchased from a wrecker. I intend to fit this to my car to replace the tensioner assembly that has a broken Square hole, where you put the power bar to remove the tension off the belt. My questions are apply to both the tensioners I have as they both exhibit the same problems:-

1 – The serpentine belt does not run centrally on the pulley

2 - The edge of the belt has just started rubbing on the arm assembly

3 – There was quite an appreciable gap here. I have carefully squeezed the two aluminium castings together in a vice and reduced it to minimal

4 – I have tried to press the black steel disc further onto the 8mm bolt boss. It did not budge

5 – I now have a small gap between the outer edge of the black disc with the plastic. I guess when it is fitted to the car eventually it will work back to produce the gap at 3

Has anyone else had this problem? Or had the tension spring out of the assembly. Another thought I have had is to press down on the black disc on the outer circumference to try a dish the disc to take out the slop.
