Little counsel please ... engine dies randomly

Vehicle: '94 2.3NA auto w/104K on the clock; dealer serviced and maintained per Saab specs, oil changed every 5 - 7.5K (again per Saab spec) until I got "religion" when the balance shaft issue hit my wallet!
Yesterday, the I'm tooling down the road when the engine "sputters" and dies. Restarts OK, and off I go. A few blocks later, same routine. Since I'm two blocks from my destination, I restart and drive off.
Open the hood, start looking around. Serp. belt OK, charging system OK, old oil deposits on the distributor cap and plug wire cap rubbers. Could this anomoly be due to moisture on the cap and plug ends??? I go inside thinking over lunch I'll bring the car to the dealer.
Lunchhour: engine starts fine and I'm off wondering how far will I get before the gremlins raise their head. Car drives_perfectly_, so I figure I'll ask the 'board for y'alls thoughts before committing to a dealer bill ($$$). I'm going to clean the distributor cap and plug wire ends today, any other thoughts will be appreciated.
TIA and a Tip o' the Hat!
