My 1995 is the same way. I have done all of the things you describe and then some (compression and leakdown tests, removal and inspection of engine mounts, etc) with NO change at all.
Its very minor, but enough to get annoying to an anal-retentive person like me.
I've learned to live with it, but I'm not happy with it. My 2.3L Turbo 9000 never did this, and my classic (1993) 900 2.1L with 2x as many miles does not do this. The only thing I can figure are that its from the cheap rubber engine mounts the NG900 uses. The 9000 and classi 900 used liquid filled mounts, expensive but very effective in smoothing idle. At higher age and mileage, the engine is bound to vibrate more, but the rubber mounts in the NG900 cannot adapt to this vibration very well....that's my best hypothesis.
Maybe cheaper, but I guess that's the cost of Saab deciding they should finally try to ACTUALLY turn a profit, rather than putting design quality before income...which is what forced them to run to GM for help in 1991.
