I'd try for a year 97 or 98, if your wallet can spring for it. The post-96's have upgraded brakes and hydraulic clutches, from what I understand from this board. I wish my 96 SET had the better brakes and the smoother clutch, you know what I mean.
Look around, they're probably not that much more expensive. I do love my 96, but in hindsight...
