Hello guys,
I have an update on my brake installation misery. After a few tries, I got it right.
Reason: Brakes fade under hard stops.
1st attempt: NEW Eurorotors pads (no shims) and NEW Eurorotors discs all around. Flush system and clean calipers. I have applied anti-squeak paste and high temp grease. The effect ---> squeak at every stop. really annoying.
2nd attempt: 3 weeks later, I cannot take it anymore. Clean the pads and calipers. Inspect discs, inspect retention pins, put grease. Put more anti-squeak paste and high temp-grease on the caliper. Keep the same Eurorotors pads and discs. The effect ---> squeak at every stop. really really annoying.
3rd attempt: Get new Wagner TermoQuiet Pads all around. THOSE HAVE SHIMS. When I saw that, I went to the Saab dealer and asked them to see the original Saab pads.
!!! The original Saab pads HAVE shims. The "original-like" GM pads DO NOT HAVE SHIMS that they also sell cheaper"
Price (all Canadian):
Original Saab : 175$ front pads SHIMS
GM : 125$ front pads NO SHIMS
Eurorotors: $60 front pads NO SHIMS
Wagner: $75 front pads SHIMS
Result: After changing to the new Wagner pads with shims and applying the same grease and anti-squeak paste ---> NO SQUEAK WHATSOEVER.
So you decide what the problem was.
