With the engine running and the changer cable all plugged in at the trunk end, try to remove the actual cartridge that holds the CD's, put some CD's in it, and then put it back in. If you can hear the changer clicking through all the CD's, you know that the problem lies in the mysterious and often discussed issue of the head unit not giving the changer enough time to be recognized (there is a fix - search the archives, but it only happens to me when it's really cold out!). If you DON'T hear the changer changing through all the new CD's, then you know the problem lies in either the cable or the changer itself - it is not getting power.
Hope that helps you. Let us know what you find.
