Clutch: They are hard, cable operated. They will feel like a ton of bricks if compared to the butter soft VW clutch, you get used to it.
Brakes: They dont have the initial bite of VW brakes. VW seems to really boost the first few cm's of pedal travel, SAAB doesnt do this. The brakes are more than adequate.
Coolant: I dont know about this one, that shouldnt be low.
Just make sure the tranny shifts well and doesnt grind. Trying doing a few quick shifts, paying attention to 2nd to 3rd...should be smooth. But keep in mind, the clutch must be pressed all the way down before shifting. In VW's(and others) you can get away with 3/4 clutch movement and still shift smoothly and safely, not so on a SAAB. If the price is good and the car checks out(get it in writing) then I dont see why this isnt a good car. But as I said, price should reflect condition.
