True.

However, being able to stop in a cold Autumn rain is a good thing. And many tires will not do this, but will slide almost like being on ice. It does not matter if these tires are on an econobox or a high perforamance vehicle. You need to be able to stop.

So one still has to be aware that run of the mill tires are basically extremely dangerous at times. Yes it is relative to the performance of performance tires. But so what? If the safely is an issue, then you need tires that will cost about two times the cost of the cheaper tires that you can find. It is just another insurance type decision. How much are you willing to spend to avoid messing up your vehicle or causing grave injury to your self or others. I thing that it is better to spend the money to avoid a problem then spend money on insurance to get someone else to cough up money after damages occur. So in my mind, good tires and brakes are more valuable than insurance in some respects.

I see lots of people killed on the highway. I use the best snow tires that I can find for the winter, and it does not snow much here. But at 75 mph commutes, things can go very bad very quickly. There is no job more important than getting home alive.

Don't cheap out on tires.
