Just for the hell of it, when one of my headlights blew out in May, I replaced both bulbs with the Sylvania Cool Blue headlights, yea yea I know they arn't xenon or anything, but they were almost as cheap as OEM, they were only 2.50 more per bulb so I figured what the hell. First off they arnt blue AT ALL, not even the tinyist shred of blue light comes off them. However, they do provide a whiter light which, while not improving visibility at all, does look more appealing than the dirty yellow look of OEM. So everything was ok, until last week when one of them blew out after only 3 months of use! The OEM lasted 5 years! So I figure well maybe I got one bad one so ill just pick up another, I put in the still working OEM bulb I have left till can get to the parts store. This week I get the Frontlight Failure message again, its the OTHER Cool blue bulb that has burned out. Now im glad I didnt pick up the other one, because I will not be running those in my car ever again, three month useable life, youve got to be kidding. here is the math: OEM 12.50 apeice or $25.00 for five years of use. Cool Blue $15.00 apeice or $300.00 for five years of use. Seems like simple math to me.
