Nick (sorry about the dyxlexia)
Better times are available to your saab with a combination of preparation and technique.
I have a pair of 215/55-16 Nitto drag radials on my stock rims that I put on for trapping ET's. The added traction overcomes any need for an ATB Diffy (LSD). I paid $50 for the used from some ricer. An ATB diff would be at least a grand. They also hook up a lot faster than street rubber and help to offset the natural weakness all FWD cars have with hole shots.
We run instant green trees at the track I go to (mainly because so many folks are queued up).
I do something called shallow staging. When you trip the first set of staging beams / bulbs creep very slowly or even bump the car until you just barely light up the second set of staging beams / bulbs. This gives your car more time to accelerate through the 60ft. box as well as the entire track. Yes, it is only a foot or two that we are talking about but it works, trust me.
I also torque my engine against the clutch to get on boost prior to launch and side step the clutch at 3500 rpm. No wonder I've had to replace the clutch at 70k.
I've just bedded a new kevlar clutch so I'm gonna stay away from the track for awhile and maybe try autoX for awhile.
