>>>>I'm astounded, btw, about how cheaply one can get into a used saab--terrible news for current owner. maintenance issues aside, it would seem a perfect choice for students, recent graduates, etc. A nice safe car with decent looks and performance for considerably less money than most other European imports.<<<<
I got my 98 SE Turbo Coupe for $5500 (high-milage but no other glaring issues). Yes, it is astounding how cheap you can score these cars right now. A great choice for me as a single 20-something wanting a car that stands out from the others (doesn't hurt that the ladies seem to like it).
more to the point though. Take it up with the SUV owners' insurance company - I don't care if she initially said she'd like to leave her company out of it. I got burned pretty bad in a similar accident a few years back; we thought all the necessary repairs had been done (and to my satisfaction) but 6 months later an unforseen issue related to the accident popped up. Don't swap the glass either - get a new (or at least reconditioned) OEM piece.
Cheers and best of luck!
