ABS prevents wheel lockup which results in an uncontrolled slide. My point is that there are some people who think that ABS, TCS, AWD or 4WD are magic in the snow and ice. We had our first snowfall here in CT last Wed. I got about halfway to work, there were 4 cars that had skidded off the road. I decided that I'd rather work from home and turned around. On my way home I almost got creamed by a 4WD pickup that was sliding sideways toward me.

All the technology is great but we still have to adjust our driving to suit the road conditions.
