I went to higher wattage bulbs a year ago, and was also warned not to do it because of the higher heat generated. I took the warning and glad I did. The higher wattage bulbs will burn the platic chrome off on the inside of the the lights turning it black. I had them in for only a week, and as as result I could see the beginnings of the burning and crinkling of the chrome covering. I went back to OE. If I had left them in, I would have had to replaced two headlight assemblies, which would not have been cheap. A leason well learned.
