I had the same problem and was starting to think I needed a new fuel pump or something. Cranking for 6 seconds or more before starting. So the fix I stumbled upon is that if you turn the key to the ON position and leave it there for 2-3 seconds before bringing it over to Start, the engine starts right up easily.
I think what's happening is this pause gives the fuel pump a chance to get things flowing, prime the pump, you might say. I might be completely wrong about that, but regardless, works for me. Let me know if it works for you.
