That is close to the estimate of 700.00 I got from an independent. Only my head had to be removed to extract several broken exhaust manifold bolts, while we were at it, new head gasket, new valve cover gasket, turbo flange gasket, new exhaust manifold gasket, new nuts, studs, washers and spacers. New turbo oil lines, too.

Timing chain looked good, valve train looked good, oddly and contrary to what you read in these posts, no crud buildup in motor for using Castrol dino oil for over 100,000 miles. Mechanic says Penzoil and Quaker State dino oils are the worst for crud buildup - high paraffin (wax) content. Castrol about the same as Mobil 1 synthetic for crud buildup.
