Muffler questions

'94 900SE V6 with 127,000mi

I believe that my muffler is going bad, as the car seems to have gotten noisier. I think I still have the original factory muffler. I would like to do this job at home and have a few questions. Couldn't find conclusive answers to these in the archives.

1) How can I tell which muffler (front or rear) has gone bad? I think it's the rear, but just a quick guess based on the location of the sound.

2) Should I replace both mufflers at once while I'm at it, even if only one is bad?

3) What is the OEM, Starla or Bosal? Trollhattan, Andrews, etc. all sell both brands and there is some difference in price. Price doesn't bother me, but I would like to match the original. TSN BB archives suggest Starla, but at least one post does claim Bosal was original/OEM so I'm not sure.

4) Any tips or miscellaneous advice for DIY work on this? I have decent mechanical skills and tools.
