Ugh. Serpentine belt snapped. What now?

OK, it's been a bad week for my 1998 900 SE Turbo (151,800 miles)...
First, a power steering issue (low fluid & groaning) at Dean's suggestion I tightened the hose clamps (they were DEFINITELY loose) and topped-up the fluid... seemed to do the trick and all groaning went away. No noises or anything else...
Tonight though, I noticed a weird sound under the hood, and then a *snap* and the little "!" light went on, on the dash, and the radio turned off. No more power steering. I limped the car into a parking spot and eventually had it towed to my indie Saab mechanic's lot.
A quick look under the hood shows a shredded serpentine belt, completely off the pulleys. How much damage could this have inflicted? In order to limp the car to a proper parking spot I had the car on for about 15-20 sec. after the belt broke. Some additional information: the serpentine belt is BRAND NEW, it only has about 400 miles on it and was changed late December along with a new water pump. Could a bad power steering pump again be the source of this? Or something else, like bad idler pulleys, bad install of serp belt, etc?

Of course any thoughts on what could have caused this with a brand new serp belt, would be mucho appreciated.
Cheers to all....
