Alright, My new to me 95 900 setc just got back from the shop to have a new valve cover and headgasket put in and I'm having a tough time getting Smithtown Saab on Long Island NY to get my top fixed right (going to try Arnold Saab) and my turn signal high beam switch goes out on me. That was no big surprise as I've been having trouble with it for a couple of weeks now, got a quote of 140 to replace it (90 parts 50 labor) so that's not to terrible, but tonight I was hanging out with two of my friends when I started blowing coolant onto my firewall. It was pretty dark out so I wasn't sure but it looks like either the water pump or one of the hoses blew and next thing I know, I'm surounded by a cloud of thick sweet smelling white smoke. Since I wasn't baking out the car, this really disturbed me.

After feeling rather embarrassed in front of one of my best friends and a rather attractive friend also, I got towed to my long time mechanics by AAA and will call in the morning to get the estimate (not really looking forward to that) and hopefully get the car back on the road soon.

This car that I really do enjoy seems to be slowly hemmoraging my bank account, which all you former college students must realize won't hold out long. So what I have been pondering these last few hours is whether or not I should hold on to this car. I do realize and accept that Saabs are realatively expensive to own and maintain, and have no real problem with that, but my question is, once I have fixed all of the major problems with this car will it still punish me? Right about now a 1991 rx-7 convertible is looking really good to me.

Anyway, I am sure all of these thoughts of leaving my Saab will vaporize once the weather warms up this spring and I can leave the top down and get the wind in my hair. Thanks for letting me rant and rave.

p.s. the car is a 5-speed with about 86000 miles on the clock.

Thanks again and happy Saabing.

Robert
