I was making my way skiing this morning in pouring rain, after there had been freezing rain during the night. The right lane of the highway was in great shape, the left lane was not. I chose to pass a very slow vehicle, and unfortunately I never got by him. I lasted 2 seconds in the left lane before my car started to spin. I crossed the highway backwards and hit the snow bank on the right side. I plowed through that and spun down an 8 foot bank and stoped at a 90 degree angle to the highway, facing the highway. Not hurt. No damage.

A friend behind me stopped. (I didn't even know he was behind me). I phoned my roadside assistance from his car. Then I waited for a tow inside my car that arrived an hour later. You wouldn't believe how many people stopped during that hour to offer help. Nice to live in Nova Scotia.

Unfortunately the driver's side fog light glass cover shattered when being winched out. Ah well. Life could have been much worse... much, much worse.

That was very lucky. I'm glad I wasn't in an SUV. I'm lucky I didn't roll while going sideways down a bank. That would have written my car off. I'm lucky I didn't find a gaurd rail, a steeper ditch, another car...

Anyway. All is good. And sliding was kinda fun. A very good ammusement park ride.
