It very expensive to take out the tranny. The tranny has to be dropped from below and the engine needs to be put on an engine brace to prevent it from dropping out. To install the hydraulic clutch as you mentioned is huge process. I'm not sure it would be worth spending the money to do so. A shop might charge about 3-4 hours labor to take out the tranny.
