The new style head bolt have threads going all the way up to the torx head and a loose washer.
Torque = first stage 40Nm,(29.5 lbf ft) second stage 60Nm,(44lbf ft) third stage 90 degree.
Old bolts have have threads going half way up the bolt and no extra washer on top.
Torque firts stage 60Nm,(44lbf ft) second stage 80Nm (59lbf ft) and third stage 90 degree.
The new style head bolts came around in 97. That's when most of this problems with head gaskets seems to have started.
