The turbo is easy to mod. Another 50-70 hp. can be had with ECU, sport exhaust, viggen IC, airbox mods. Wheeeeeee! Mods are well documented here. With the 2.3 engine there are few mods that can be done and is no where as fun as the turbo is. I get the impression that the 2.0 engine is also somewhat more reliable than the 2.3 from the comments on this board (and my mechanic who does not like the 2.3 engine). I can tell you that all 5 of my Saabs have had the 2.0 turbo engine and I have driven them up to 200,000m and have yet to have any engine troubles. I have never owned the 2.0 N/A version or the 2.3, but have driven them over the years. Yawn.
TURBO=SAAB, anything else and you miss out on the joy of Saab ownership.
