whistling noise after replacing both Idler pully's Posted by Rob [Email] (#1828) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Rob) on Fri, 16 May 2003 00:14:03 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hello,
A week ago my powersteeringpump broke down. It leaked oil. I went to a car dismantler specialized in Saab and Volvo and got myself a other powersteeringpump.
Last week I also replaced both my idler pully's and the engine belt (Saab 900S 2.3L 1996).
Still there's a whistling noise coming from the motor department. I use the original Saab pully's and engine belt (no short belt modification).
I think the noise is coming from the powersteeringpump (I listened to the pump with a screwdriver to my ear).
My questions are:
Is it safe to drive with a powersteeringpump that is making this much noise? Or will it brake down soon?
Can it be the distribution (timing chains) that make this noise?
Thanks in advance for any reaction.
Best regards,
Rob
