Hey Anders,
I had the exact same symptoms as this last fall. The ignition switch was the first thing the dealer replaced (the 1st time they just punted and did nothing). The switch was not the problem; a used instrument cluster did solve it.
Question: if the switch is malfunctioning, wouldn't this cut out ALL electrical on the car that is keyed? I.e., wouldn't the SID flicker and the engine possibly stutter as all electrical was cut for a split second?
Please correct me if I'm wrong. This is just a theory I'm trying to figure out. It could be hard to detect if the outage is quick, but I think you'd notice _something_. My outages lasted anywhere from 0.5 to 10 seconds.
