After going crazy for days in trying to get the timing cover off without removing the sump or the head I looked back to my previous threads and read Anders suggestion to use a hydraulic jack against the subframe and bell housing to move the engine to the left. Tried that but was not sure how to do it because the jack wouldn't work sideways.
I tried something on the same line. Get a small peice of 2X4 and cut it to fit between the head and the inner fender. As you hammer it towards the cabin, the fender gradually gets narrower and pushes the engine a tad to the left. Then the timing cover could be removed from the bottom without pan or head removal. Since the wood is deformable you won't damage anything.

Now, I looked around inside and everything seemed to look good EXCEPT for the balance shaft sprockets.

I also noticed that when I lined up the cam sprockets on the top to TDC, the sprockets weren't at their TDC. The EXHAUST side sprocket seems to have rounded teeth while the INLET sprocket has big teeth but teeth seem to look like shark teeth. (worn on one side) Also I noticed that the metal rings (the two metal rings sandwiching the teeth) on the exhaust side was flops around big time while the other doesn't. Is this normal?
Just wanted everyones opinion if these sprockets are indeed bad. As I said earlier, everything else seems good and the timing chain is tight.
Thanks!
