I had exactly the same problem when I went to a lower speed rated tire that was recommended. I figured I was never going to drive my 900S at 150 mph, so why not save some bucks and get a lower speed rating and cheaper tire. When the wear began to show up the tire shop gave me the same old BS about needing after market shims on the rear wheels. They contacted two Saab dealers, and I contacted two others plus a fellow who has worked on every model of Saab since the 2-strokers. The answer was unanimous: Saab doesn't offer such shims, and they have never found the need for them.
After only about 10000 miles on the tires they were so bad that the thumpity-thumpity down the highway sounded like I was missing on one cylinder. Finally a wise old tire dealer suggested that I stick with the recommended speed rating which I did, and the rear wear went away.
The lesson here is that speed rating is just an easy way to categorize tires in terms that laymen can understand, but it means more than how fast you can go without your tires flying apart. It includes such things as tire wall stiffness and overall handling capabilities. So if you're running on a rating not recommended in your owner's manual for your SE, then that may be your whole problem.
