1997 900 S 2.3 L Auto.

I purchased the vehicle in 2000 with 55,000 klms. I noticed a "whine" coming from the engine area at about 60k. Dealer diagnosed as an engine bearing, so under warranty, rebuilt upper block of engine, installed new cam, bearings, etc.... Sound still there.... hmmmmm....
At 72k my Alternator went, ahhhh, that must of been it. (I bought the extended warranty so it was covered). New alternator... whine still there. At 108k, Need an alternator again!!!! Whine still there....
at 113k my fuel pump went... Installed new Saab item.... Whine Gone!

What are the chances that a dying fuel pump not giving the engine enough fuel with the engine management system letting too much air combust? Would an Engine Running Lean whine?
