Repainting Strut Tower Brace?

Before I do anything stupid, I just wanted to confirm that this is an okay idea. I wanted to remove and repaint my strut tower brace bar. This is the tube that connects the tops of the strut towers to the firewall. It looks simple enough to remove with a few bolts on either end and a bracket at the firewall. Right now, it is scratched and has drip marks on it from something yellow. I was thinking of spray-painting it silver to match the car. My questions:
- As long as the car is parked on level ground and not jacked up, I should be able to remove and reinstall the brace without problems, correct? The car should not sag or bend.
- Do I need to use high-temp paint? I don't think it gets hot enough in the engine compartment to merit special spray paint but wanted any advice.
Thanks.
