I broke the interior air temp sensor...

I did a stupid thing and as I was trying to clean it (it was rattling and full of lint/dust) I broke the little circuit board that holds the resistor (or whatever it is) in place behind the circular grill guard. I drove the car for about two days and the ACC system would turn on the rear defroster and not deliver AC when I started it. I would just manually override the settings. A coworker soldered and glued it back together and I just installed it with no improvement - the rear defroster still comes on and the only way to get the AC to come on is to lower the temp to MIN.
Does anyone know if you have to reset or calibrate the ACC system after replacing this part?
Should I pull the fuses for the system (I think there were two)?
Should I just buy a new air sensor?
Thanks for the help. Be careful when cleaning these :-(
