I believe that I have a CD jammed in the changer. Has anyone else dealt with this problem? How did you solve it?

Symptoms: The changer has power, and you can hear faint clicking when you try to eject the magazine, but it does not come out. When the "cd" button on the head unit is clicked, it says "CD 1 WAIT" for 30 seconds or more, then goes back to the radio.

My girlfriend had my car last week when this happened. She says there is no CD in slot 1. Not sure if CD orientation is correct, but she says they were put in correctly.
