Ignition tumbler failure (KEY)

My 94 900 SET saab has a failed ignition contact. I lose 2/3 of my accessories at any given time. When I rock the key around, I can make electronics come back to life momentarilly.
I took a look at the wiring diagrams in the haynes manual. Seems as though the "on" possition has more than one switch. I traced all my failing accessories (AC, windows, cruise, wipers, blinkers) all to one section of this tumbler switch.
The radio on my car does not power down, nor does the SID (info display). Both of these accessories is hooked into wire X which is a seperate contact for the "on" possition on the key.
Now I looked at the price of $140us for new parts.
But I am a little electronic rigger (wired a standalone in rx7) and I want to use a relay from wire X to switch the bad components over. this will save me roughly $140us.
What do you all think? Should I just get a new switch?
