I've noticed both my C900's manual tranny & 9³'s auto tranny have much fewer morning problems if I follow this procedure:
1) stop car in final location
2) set parking brake
3) release brake pedal
4) engage reverse (or park)
5) turn off engine
6) release clutch
But this really just prevents extended-duration static loads on the tranny, & doesn't address any synchro problems like what's outlined in the TSB.
Before going the tear-down-the-tranny route, I'd definitely give Auto-Rx a try (link below). Several years ago my C900 had a 5th gear hot-sticking problem while driving (wouldn't come out of 5th on the freeway!), & apparently it was due to dirt buildup causing things to get stuck. The cure involved flushing the tranny with nasty solvents to clean out 135k miles of crud. I've been running BG SyncroShift (synthetic) since then, but now, 30k miles later, the symptoms are starting to return. This time around, I'll use Auto-Rx for 1500 miles (instead of harsh solvents for 30 minutes) & maintain 100% of the oil's protection while clearing the gunk out of all the nooks & crannies.
