Have I made a mistake???

So I recently took ownership of a 97 900SET auto w/ 47K miles. I've been an Acura owner for the past 7 years and used to the "easy" life of routine oil changes and nothing more. I was tired of the bland car and decided to try something different. Well - I'm not even a month along in my new car and the alternator died sending me $700 in the hole. Meanwhile they suggested I get the pulley's and serpentine belt replaced while they're in there...another $250. I've been told the valve gasket (or something like that) is leaking oil and should be replaced for another $150. I've read all sort of stories about the DI cassette going bad (I think I'm still running with an original one in my car) and if and when mine goes bad, that'll be another $300. From the sounds of it, you can't own a Saab w/o replacing the SID at least a handful of times - again I'm running with the original one still. The nearest dealer charges $105/hr for labor, the one down the road is at $95/hr for labor. My Acura dealer was at $85 and I thought that was alot.
This car is going to suck me dry, isn't it?
