My tranny seems to have some worn gaskets, and I had heard that if this is the case, i would be worsening the problem by going synthentic. I just changed this weekend and filled up with dino Castrol 10-30. I wanted to go synthetic, but was scared. Is this an old wives tale?
Other note: very fine metal filings on the drain plug magnet: looked like silver liquid they were so fine. Am I in trouble anyway? I got the car 5K ago, and the guy took care of it according to the book and no more: which means it may have been original fluid in there. Should I worry?
