to allay some of your fears, i have not experienced any engine problems when my idler pulley went @ 60k. I drove for about two miles (not that i recommend this) without realizing the pulley went (was enjoying the scenery, not the gauges). Car was on I-15, so engine was hot. Coolant vented, but no engine problems (thank goodness). car has 105k miles now. every car is different. you can check around your head gasket for leaks, but i have not noticed any problems yet.
