we will again push our meeting one week to Sunday, February 12. This upcoming venue will likely be in Rockville, Maryland at Guiseppi's Pizza once again.
In the mean time, I'm working on a number of things including events as well as general business of the club and will continue to be giving updates both here as well as at the next meeting.
I'm working on a Dyno Day -- in fact, we may have a couple different days to both accommodate those who may not be able to join due to conflicts, but also Dyno runs are typically to gauge what improvements a modification does to your vehicle -- a before and after if you will. Nothing set yet, but look for announcement here. For Turbo equipped cars, the cooler the ambient air, the better the performance, so I'm trying to make it happen during the winter months.
Tech Sessions. We discussed this a bit last night with Jeff Williams of S&S. Just to make clear, several people view tech sessions differently -- learning maintenance techniques, or adding a performance part, etc., versus actually wrenching on your car yourself under the supervision of a certified tech. Suffice to say, there are liability issues, not to mention the potential for lossed revenue at some shops were you to wrench on your car in their facility. Not likely to happen. But there are ways to get around this issue. More on this in the coming weeks.
NESA Donation: With general approval of the rest of the elected board memebers, a $250 donation has been made to help NESA defray the outstanding costs of SOC '05.
WASSAAB Logo Grill Badges: An initial 20 badges have been ordered. Whereas the logo below is yellow Blue and white, all white areas will be in highly reflective nickle plate. The outer blue ring will be eliminated, and two mounting holes will be in the yellow cross to the right and left. The overall badge will measure 3 inches across. I hope to have them delivered to me before the next club meeting. Each will retail for $30 in order to cover the manufacturing costs.
Incorporation: Still, yes still, in progress, however it looks like it's finally coming to fruition. Stay tuned.
Membership renewals: We'll be prorating renewals to a common calendar year for all members, and any new members will also be "normalized" to this calendar as well. Those of you who are due for renewal this year, be on the lookout for a notice in your mail.
National club affiliation: This is a long open debate at the national level. Many local clubs are not interested while others are. In debate are subjects such as national vs. local dues and how that is handled, local representation, and others. We'll discuss this at the next meeting.
That's about it for now, but of course, more updates to come. Great seeing everyone last night, and thanks everyone for coming!
Keep on Saabing!
Jim Miller, WASSAAB
